Hey computer kiddies... do yourself a favor and read this great essay by Neal Stephenson (available as download). Yes, it was written in 1999 so it's a little out-dated (with some Macintosh references) but still some essential reading. I'm currently enjoying this article on my gameboy with gameboymovieplayer, a good bedside reader for downloaded texts.

Addendum: Getting to the end of this work recently left me agape. Really, just read this even if you aren't technologically inclined. Great metaphor and observations.
