Hypebot, a music industry blog, has revealed Clear Channel’s unctuous contract with independent artists who wish to participate in their FCC ordered “NEW! Discover Artists” promotion. The FCC’s requirement for radio stations to open their airwaves to independent artists was based on a recent Payola settlement. However, Clear Channel has still managed to stick a knife in an indie artist’s back to bleed them dry anyway…

Mtv and some other people decided to build a Virtual Lower East Side (NYC), so now you can hang out with the trustfundkids and play virtual shitty shows in bars while virtual local bands try and make you play last to about 5 people. At least the restaurants are good... I hope that creperie is there.

I once saw Earth Crisis over 10 years ago - it was an insanely energetic show of crazy vegan straightedgers freaking out to the mosh guitars of said-NY based band. And now recently I saw something just as crazy but more positive (and non-violent). Everyone reacted to the music and there was not even a band - just a guy DJing with CDs. As Dischord shook up the punk world in the 80s/90s, Ed Banger Records is doing the same in the electronic world... and the founder seen here.. Busy P.
